Team Kiwami's Nicky Samuels (NZL) was a deserved winner of the ITU World Cup race in front of a lage crowd at Mooloolaba, Australia this weekend.
Up against a world class field, Nicky wearing her Amphibian Openback in kiwi colors, broke away on the bike along with Daniella Ryf (SUI). The pair, both noted cyclists, worked on estabilshing a gap ahead of the chase pack containing most of the pre-race favourites including 2009 & 2010 world champ Emma Moffat (AUS) and feared runner Barbara Riveros-Diaz (CHI). The pair lead into lead into T2 with a 1min30sec advantage. Onto the run Samuels moved ahead of Ryf who was quickly caught by the chasers. Nicky held on throughout the 10k with sheer determination to take a very well deserved victory, 20 sec ahead of Moffat and 30 sec ahead of Riveros.
Well done Nicky - many fans are pleased to see that ITU races can still be won on the bike ;-)

Team Kiwami’s Graham O’Grady kicks off 2011 in fine style by winning the Port of Tauranga Half Ironman – New Zeland’s second biggest race after IMNZ.
The race boasted one of the most competitive fields in recent history wit past winners Cameron Brown, Kieran Doe and Michael Poole all toeing the start line along with the in-form Callum Millward.
O’Grady lead out for the swim with Doe, 1min40sec ahead of the chases. The two then put everything into the flat and fast 90km bike, coming into the run with a 4min 30secf lead on the chase group. O’Grady then worked into the run, building his pace over the first 7km lap. On lap 2 of the run he pulled away from Doe and just managed to hold off a fast finishing Millward by only 10sec! Brown was third, a further 35sec back.
Way to go GOG!
Results:
1. Graham O’Grady 3:49.45
2. Callum Millward 3:49.55
3. Cameron Brown 3:50.30
Team Kiwami’s Morslav Vrastil (CZE) has set a new Ironman world record for the number of IM distance races completed in 12 months! Miroslav clocked up IM N°21 for 2011 last weekend at IM Cozumel, Mexico. And if that’s not enough he has travelled to Bussleton, Western Australia to finish his 22nd (and final – phew!) IM distance race this weekend.
The 58 year old and Czech, a three-time Olympic rower, and cancer survivor says ”I cannot say exactly what is behind my decision to do this,” says Vrastil. ”It was last year that I said to my wife, “I will do 22 Ironmans in one year.” She answered, “I’ll keep my fingers crossed!”
Miroslav uses either the Kiwami Kaiman XClub or Konami suits in his IM races. A detailed account of the amazing Miroslav Vrastil story will be posted after IM Bussleton.
Team Kiwami’s Jordan Rapp (USA) showed he is back to his near best form just 8 months after a life threatening hit-and-run accident while training on his bike. Rapp stormed to the front of the race early in the bike and stayed there until the end of the bike, with Timo Bracht (GER) and Rasmus Henning (DEN) in tow. Onto the run Jordan settled into his own rhythm running a 2:58:02 marathon to finish in 4th place behind Bracht, Henning and Tom Lowe (GBR) . After the race Bracht said "Rapp rode the bike really well and in the end I had to give everything to get the win." Jordan's 4:22:38 bike was only 7 seconds slower than the course record he rode in 2009, and his 2:58:02 run just 2:17 than his run when he won the race in 8:13:35 Welocome back Rappstar. J
Meanwhile Team Kiwami team-mate Matty Reed (USA) showed a promising IM debut with a valiant 6th place finish. Reed, an Olympian and one of America’s most decorated short distance athletes, lead out of the water in a group of 6 and immediately took the lead on the bike. When Rapp took the lead Reed paced himself to the finish in 8:33:08 and 6th place. Well done Matty!
Also to note Team Kiwami's Miroslav Vrastil, an age grouper from Czech Republic, who finished his 20th IM or the year at Arizona - in doing so equaling the World Record for the number of Ironman distance races completed in one year!! Miroslav will race IM Cozomul, Mexico this weekend and IM Busselton, Australia on 5 December to clock up 22 IM's for 2010 !!! Good luck Miroslav!

Team Kiwami’s Filip Ospaly (CZE) finished his 2010 season with an outstanding 2nd place at the IM 70.3 world Championships this weekend, racing in Kiwami’s new short / singlet combination that will be available before Christmas this year.
Continuing his excellent 2010 form in only his second 70.3 finish (he won his first attempt at the distance in record time earlier this year), Ospaly pushed defending champ and eventual winner Mickeal Raelert (GER) to the limit. Raelert said "I was freaked out the last couple hundred meters because I was cramping and could not have fought back if Filip had come back on me." Ospaly said "At kilometer 13 Michael went faster and I decided to stay on my pace and hope I would come back after the bridge and get back together. But after the bridge I had some problems. I won Austria 70.3, but this race was only my second 70.3 finish. And I had no power to go quicker and ran slower from kilometer 15-17.” Reading between the lines, Filip we be back stronger faster and more experienced to fight for the win next year. Congratulations Filp !!
Other Team Kiwami athletes to note were Kevin Collington (USA) – also lacking experience at the distance - finishing in 8th place, and Matty Reed (USA) using the race as a blow out for his full distance IM debut next weekend at Tempe, Arizona, finishing a strong 9th .

Team Kiwami's Filip Ospaly (CZE) continued his impressive 2010 form with a win at the inaugural Kiwami–sponsopred Super Sprint Tri Grand Prix at Oceanside, California Sunday.
The race format was reminiscent of legndary « Formula One Triathlon » days, organised by former Aussie pro Marc Lees. 30 pro's raced over a beach front course of 300 swim – 7km bike – 2km run – 300m swim – 7km bike – 2km run. Needless to say the format attacted plenty of interest from the worlds top pro's - including newly crowned Ironman World Champ Chris « Macca » MacCormack (AUS) racing in a Kiwami Amphibian 008 suit. Kiwami, as official race wear sponsor for the race kitted out over half of the athletes in Kiwami Amphibian suits.
Filip said of the race « It wasn't really fun while racing – it was too intense for that - but it was great to win!» He swam the first swim with the leaders, broke away on the first bike leg with Team Kiwami team mate Matty Reed (USA), was caught by the pack on the first run only to break away again on the second bike, this time with Ben Collins (USA) who he ran away from for the win.
Ospaly has two weeks to rest and prepare for the IM 70,3 World Championships in Clearwater, FL. With his current form, Ospaly is Kiwami's pick to take the title. Congratulations and good luck Filip!!!
It was a big weekend for triathlon all over the world, and once again Team Kiwami athletes and teams came up with outstanding international results all over the Globe.
Filip Ospaly (CZE) wearing the Amphibian 008 suit took the win at the US Open Triathlon in Dallas, Texas ahead of fellow team Kiwami athlete Matty Reed (USA) wearing the Signature Suit. The win – achieved with dominating non-drafting form - gave Ospaly the overall win of the prestigious 2010 Lifetime Fitness Series, the first time a European athlete has won the series. Matty Reed, the defending LTF Champ, finished the series in 2rd place. Great to see such good guys as Filip and Matty take 1-2 in the Sereis – well done!!
It’s woth noting that with both Filip and Matty in such good form, they are amongst the favorites to take the IM 70.3 World Championship title in Clearwater, Florida in November. Watch this space…
Team Kiwami’s Lucie Zelenkova (CZE) wearing her Konami suit, took an impressive win at Chellenge Barcelona over the 3.8-180-42.2 distance. Lucie lead from start to finish with a 52min 48sec swim, a 4hr 51min bike and a comfortable 3hr 29min run for a total time of 9hrs 13min. Congratulations Lucie
Kiwami-sponsored Rouen Triathlon, wearing their Amphibian 008 suits scored a surprise 2nd place at the 2010 Coupe de France des Clubs, the traditional end of season race in the French pro calendar. Lead by Team Kiwami’s Francky Batellier (FRA) in outstanding bike-run form Rouen confirmed themselves as legitimate podium contenders on the French pro club scene for 2011.
Look out for Francky at the World Xterra Champs in 2 weeks time- he really is in outstanding form!
Last but not least, the biggest race of the year on the triathlon calendar, the Hawaii Ironman World Championships took place this weekend and Team Kiwami athletes were to the fore.
Worth noting, Team Kiwami’s Nick Saunders (JER) finished 34th in 8hrs 49min, Christophe Bastie (FRA) 37th 8hrs 52min, Petr Vabrousek 45th in 8hrs 56min and Kiwami’s USA distributor Andre Bennatan (USA) 28th in the 50-54 age group in 10hrs 42min.
Great work everyone
Team Kiwami’s Matty Reed (USA) won the second round of the
rich Lifetime Fitness Series this Saturday in Minneapolis, MN (USA)
wearing his own Limited
Edition Kiwami Signature Suit beating off fellow USA and Team Kiwami
athlete Matt Charbot (wearing the same suit!) in a sprint
finish. 4th place also went to a team Kiwami member the evergreen Filip
Ospaly (CZE) wearing an Amphibian 008 suit. Only a
3rd place finish by double Ironman world Chmapion Craig Alexander (AUS) prevented a Kiwami trifecta.
According to Charbot, the speed
of Kiwami’s suits in the water was clearly a major factor in the race.
He said “Wow, didn't realize how fast the Amphibian really was. 3rd
out of the water
And I wasn't even trying. Matt and I were the only
ones who didn't wear swim
skins! Anyone who was near us in T1, got
dropped because we didn't have to take
anything off. Then we blew the
gap open further on the bike.” Needless to say the running prowess
of the two Matt’s ensured them the 1-2 finish.
With the win Matty
Reed too the lead in the LTF Toyota Cup series.
Not completely
satisfied with the win, Reed flew back to his home in Boulder, CO after
the race and finished 3rd in the Boulder Peak Triathlon the following
day!!
Meanwhile, in Europe, Ivan Tutukin (RUS) outclassed a
talented field to win the Holten, Netherlands round of the ITU World
Cup, also wearing Kiwami’s famous Amphibian 008 suit. In a
tightly contested race, Australians Brendan Sexton and Joshua Amberger
broke away on the bike and started the run with a 23sec lead on the
chase pack. Tutukin, who is a training partner of current world N°1 and 2
ranked athletes Alexander Bruhkankov and Dimity Polyanski,
charged through the field on the run finishing victorious in an
astonishing 4-way sprint finish over fellow Russian Yulian Malyshev
(2nd), Portugal’s Joao Pereira (3rd) and France’s Brice Daubord (4th).
Congratulations Ivan!!
While the triathlon season in Europe is winding down, the racing season in the USA is still in full swing.
The feature race of this weekend is the LA International Triathlon, one of the feature events on the North American Triathlon calendar and the penultimate round of the Lifetime Fitness Toyota Cup. Look out for Team Kiwami athletes chasing the victory and the Series win: Filip Ospaly (CZE) and defending Toyota Cup champ Matty Reed (USA). Team Kiwami also welcomes 2x Ironman champ Jordan Rapp (USA) back to the racing scene. Jordan returns to racing in LA after being victim of a near fatal hit and run accident earlier this year.
Good luck everyone!
It's a fine performance for Annie Gervais, Team KiWAMi , who finished third at Ironman Syracuse (NY, USA) just behind her compatriot Samantha McGlone !

Whitfield had to sprint to get it ... against Kyle Jones.
And of course Paula took it for the girls !!!
Team Kiwami’s Paula Findlay (CAN) followed up her London ITU World Championship Series win 3 weeks ago with another WCS victory at Kitzbühel, Austria …again wearing her favorite Wahina Max suit.
A lead group of 22 women developed very early in the bike leg and steadily pulled away from the rest of the field thanks to some hard riding by the likes of Nicky Samuels (NZL) wearing her Amphibian Openback.
Once out of transition Findlay, Emma Moffatt (AUS), Andrea Hewitt (NZL), Lisa Norden (SWE) and Helen Jenkins (GBR) immediately broke away from everyone else. Moffatt and Jenkins were first to fall victim to the fast pace. With about 1k left to go Findlay started accelerating. Hewitt dropped off the pace about 600m from the finish, and Norden followed suit 200m from the tape when Findlay turned the pace up another notch.
"I didn't think I was going to win," said Findlay. "It'll give me confidence going into the Finals in Budapest." …where she will be pre-race favourite for a 3-peat.
Paula is the only woman in 2010 to have won two WCS races. wins in the series. Awesome work Paula!!
In the men’s race Team Kiwami athletes were to the fore also. Dimitry Polyanski (RUS) lead out of the water in his Amphibian 008 suit, while Matt Chrabot (USA), this time racing in an Amphibian Signature Suit, figured prominently in a 5-man breakaway on the bike that worked their way to a 1min 43sec lead going into the run.
Onto
the run, Stuart Hayes (GBR) immediately charged to into the lead and
never looked back. Chrabot chased Hayes as fast as he could while at the
same time trying to keep the fast approaching main pack from swallowing
him up. Late in the race Chrabot was overtaken by eventual 2nd place
getter Javier Gomez (ESP) and 3rd place getter Jan Frodeno (GER), but he
held on valiantly for 4th place – his best WCS result to date.
Chrabot is now the top ranked American triathlete in the WCS with one race left in the series. Alexander Brukhankov (RUS) remains the top ranked Team Kiwami athlete on the WCS in 3rd position with another solid 9th place finish at Kitzbuhel.
Other notable results of Team Kiwami athletes this weekend were 4th place by Petr Vabrousek (CZE) at Challenge Copenhagen, and 6th place by Simon Billeau (FRA) in the mens field and 2nd and 7th places to Isabelle Ferrer (FRA) and Simone Schwarz (GER) in the women’s feild at the worlds toughest Ironman distance race, the Embrunman triathlon in the French alps.
What a great summer Team Kiwami is having. Thanks and well done to all our athletes!!
Team Kiwami's Maria Czesnik wins the Poland national triathlon champs wearign her green and white Amphibian 008.
In Canada Brian Fleischmann (USA) finishes 2nd at IM 70.3 Calgary, also wearing an Amphibian 008 suit.
In Germany, Nick Sauders (JER), wearing his Konami suit finished 5th at IM Regensburg, Germany, securing his pro qualification for the Ironman World Championships in October.
Well done team!
21-year-old Canadian and Team Kiwami athlete Findlay ran a
race-best 33:51 10km to take the win at the 5th round of the ITU World
Championship Series, London this weekend, in her very first
participation at a WCS race.
In a rather uneventful race, a large
group of women came out of the water together and managed to stretched
their lead to 1min 24sec over the following group by the end of the bike
leg. The run began very fast with only 4 girls able to hold the fast
pace - Findlay, Nicola Spirig (SUI), Helen Jenkins (GBR) and
Andrea Hewitt (NZL). With 500m to go the talented Findlay surged
strongly to drop the other athletes, crossing the line for her maiden
WCS victory in front of Spirig (2nd), Jenkins (3rd) and Hewitt (4th).
The win confirms Findlay’s 2010 form, after her 4th place at the million-dollar Hy-Vee World Cup last month, and her win at the ITU World Cup event in Monterrey, Mexico earlier in the year.
Congratulations Paula!!
Meanwhile, at Ironman USA in Lake Placid, Peter Vabrousek (CZE) came in fast finishing second with a race best 2:53:21 marathon. Coming off the bike minutes down on the leaders, Vabrousek picked off the leaders one by one but didn’t quite have enough km’s to catch winner Ben Hoffman (USA). Maik Twelsiek of Germany was 3rd.
Great work (as ever) Petr!
This past weekend was all green for Team Kiwami with important
wins at prestigious big-city triathlons on both sides of the Atlantic
…all in green and white Amphibian 008 suits!
In New York city, USA, Team kiwami stalwart and Czech triathlon legend Filip Ospaly dominated the Nautica NYC Triathlon to take his first Lifetime Fitness
Series win for 2010. Filip recorded the 3rd fastest swim, 2nd fastest
bike and fastest run of the day to finish a comfortable 34sec ahead of
Americans David Thompson and Kyle Leto.
The win propelled Ospaly into 2nd position on series points, just behind defending champ and fellow Team Kiwami athlete Matty Reed (USA). Matty crashed twice at NYC and was forced to withdraw from the race.
The next race of the series in LA promises to be a titanic battle between the two Kiwami men in green!
Meanwhile,
in France, the Kiwami sponsored Sartrouville triathlon team won the
Paris round of the French Grand Prix series thanks to emphatic 1st and
2nd place fishes to Brit brothers Allistair and Jonathan Brownlee.
Racing over a Sprint distance in central Paris, the talented brothers
lead a small group out of the water, worked hard on the bike to maintain
the gap on the main peleton, and immediately dominated the run ending
in a two-way sprint finish under the Eiffel Tower (Allistair 1st,
Jonathan 2nd).
Sartrouville are currently sitting in second place on
general classification of the Grand Prix series with two races to go.
But with a pool of athletes such as the Brownlee brothers, Javier Gomez,
Jan Frodeno, Courtney Atkinson and Maik Petzold to draw on, expect them
to take the 2010 GP title.
Go green!!
Team Kiwami’s Matty Reed (USA) won the second round of the
rich Lifetime Fitness Series this Saturday in Minneapolis, MN (USA)

finish. 4th place also went to a team Kiwami member the evergreen Filip

3rd place finish by double Ironman world Chmapion Craig Alexander (AUS) prevented a Kiwami trifecta.

Team Kiwami athletes were once again victorious in races all over the planet this past weekend. Here’s a round up of an exceptional weekend of racing…
In Sardinia, Italy, Team Kiwami stalwart Franky Batelier
(FRA), wearing his Amphibian 008 suit won the
XTERRA European Championships in typical dominating style.
Francky
had a strong swim followed by a typical fastest bike split to lead the
field into T2 with a 90 over Oliver Marceau (SUI). Marceau forced the
pace on the run to try and catch Francky, but Francky controlled the
pace to win in a time of 2:14:10, 14sec in front of Marceau with Felix
Schumann (GER) another 5 second further back. 2:25:29.
Another Team Kiwami stalwart, 3-time Olympian and 2x European
Triathlon champ Filip Ospaly (CZE) confirmed his 70.3 potential with a
dominating performance over a stacked field to win Ironman Austria 70.3
in course record time of 3:46:02.
Ospaly exited the water in a group
of pre-race favourites that trailed Kuttor Csaba (HUN) and Dirk Bockel
(LUX). Bockel took the lead during the early parts of the bike segment
but Ospaly was not to be outclassed. He charged to the front and did the
lions share of the work on the bike in a group that contained with 4
time Ironman Austria winner Marino Vanhoenacker (BEL), defending champ
and 2008 Ironman World Champ Chris McCormack (AUS), Swedish Pro Jonas
Djurback, and 2008 70.3 World Champ and 2009 full distance Ironman World
Championship runner up Andreas Raelert (GER). It was Vanhoenacker who
got away late, entering T2 with a 40 second lead on Bockel, McCormack
and Ospaly.
On the run McCormack and Ospaly took charge and ran a
wicked pace. Eventually Ospaly got away from McCormack and after a
scintillating race best 1:08:50 half marathon crossed the line first in a
course record time of 3:46:02 wearing his green and white Amphibian 008
suit. Second place went to McCormack, 59 sec back from Ospaly, with 3rd
place to Raelert, a further 29sec back. Great work Filip! :)
In the UK, wew Team Kiwami member, Jacqueline Slack (GBR) won her
first ITU at the Strathclyde Park ITU Triathlon European Cup Champion in
her Openback Amphibian 008.
With a finishing time of 02:05:54 she exceeded her own expectations to
take the win. She said: “I’m amazed to be honest, I didn’t expect to
come out and win. I was aiming for top five, possibly top three – either
would have been great so early in the season, I’m delighted.
Look
out for more top results from this young talented athlete.
Meanwile, at Valencia, Spain Poland’s Agnieszka Jerzyk won the
10th World University Triathlon Championships, also wearing her Openback Amphibian 008.

We’re right behind you guys!!
Team Kiwami was once again in victorious form this weekend with victories of Sartrouville’s Jonathan Brownlee (GBR) at the first round of the French Grand Prix, and Marek Jaskolka (POL) taking line honors at the Senec European cup ahead of Czech legend Filip Ospaly.
The Kiwami-sponsored EC Sartrouville triathlon team is without doubt
the strongest team ever assembled. 2010 team members include, amongst
others, 2009 World Champ Jonathan Brownlee (GBR), 2008 World
Champ and 2009 runner-up Javier Gomez (ESP), 2009 World Champs
bronze medallist Maik Petzold (GER), 2008 Olympic Champion Jan
Frodeno (GER) and 2009 Junior World Champ Mario Mola (ESP).

Some of Team Kiwami’s athletes fronted up for their first race of the 2010 international racing season over the weekend. While none won their races, many showed that they are solidly fit and in a good position to contend for a win in some of the big events coming up in the next couple of months.
Defending champ Matty Reed (USA) placed third at the US season opening Miami international Triathlon. He was sporting his new Kiwami Matty Reed Signature Suit (see previous news item). Matty had the fistest run of the day, but admitted his biking wasn’t up to scratch as he hasn’t yet begun his high-intesity training phase.
World First year pro Amanda Hahn (USA) 2:10:54 finished 9th in the women’s race.
The new Abu Dhabi International long distance Triathlon attracted probably the best field of the year after Kona, over a tough and very 3km swim / 200km bike / 20km run. Jordan Rapp (USA) placed 7th in the men’s field just 5 ½ minutes down on Winner Eneko Llanos (ESP). Lucie Zelenkova (CZE, pictured), wearing her new Kiwami Konami suit placed 8th in the women’s event which was won by Julie Dibbens (GBR).
In the southern hemisphere, Nicky Samuels (NZL) using her new Openback Amphibian, showed her strength and courage with a 3rd place at the New Zealand and ITU Oceania Championships held in Wellington (NZL). Nicky did the lions share of work on the bike in a break away with first and second place getters Andrea Hewitt and Debbie Tanner (NZL). She held on on the run despite cutting her foot and having to run much of the way barefoot! Just 2 weeks before the Mooloolaba World Cup and 4 weeks before the Sydney World Championship Series event, Nicky looks to be in good form this year.
We’ll done everyone!
